On the exhibition square in front of Art Basel, a floor installation based on the children's game "Heaven and Hell" by US artist Lawrence Weiner invites you to jump

At the last Art Basel, performers rolled across the forecourt in huge plastic balls, this time visitors can hop into the exhibition halls. The floor installation "Out of Sight" by the US artist Lawrence Weiner, which is based on the children's game "Heaven and Hell", announces key words such as "Energy", "Vision", "Happiness" or "Enlightenment" and phrases such as "Spit into the wind and hope for the best". That's what it's all about: positive thinking, inspiration, heading for heaven and avoiding hell!

Weiner, who died last December, is one of the pioneers of conceptual art and became known for creating sculptures out of language. Of "Out of Sight" he once said: "A person coming from whatever position they are in, in the minutes they spend worrying about going from here to there, they become able to stand before 'Heaven and Hell' and realize that she must first imagine doing this, that is, taking a position."

That's how it is with conceptual art: it shows us how complex simple things are. And how simple the complex.
