See The Vision, Grab The Vision works with artists.

SEE THE VISION, GRAB THE VISION develops public art projects and programming by working with artists who take inspiration from language. Public art has the power to reflect society, foster collaboration, and inspire change. The artists commissioned by SEE THE VISION, GRAB THE VISION share a common belief in the power of words to evoke positive thoughts and actions in our daily lives.

OUT OF SIGHT is See The Vision, Grab The Vision's (STVGTV) inaugural project. A participatory public art installation by artist Lawrence Weiner, OUT OF SIGHT brings the artist’s signature texts off of the wall and onto the floor. The installations, some reaching more than 60 meters, are based on a hopscotch pathway that encourages participants and passersby to reflect and explore the power of self-actualization and empowerment.

All of STVGTV's projects, including OUT OF SIGHT begin and are inspired by the organization’s "catch words." The goal is to "catch" the entire series of positive words including exuberance, energy, happiness, vision, visualization, enlightenment, spontaneity, and serendipity, and make them a part of our daily lives.

Lawrence Weiner (1942-2021) was born in the Bronx, New York. He lived and worked in Amsterdam and New York City. One of the leading figures of the Conceptual art scene in the late 1960s, Weiner was among the first to propose a new relationship to art and to redefine the status of the artist.

Weiner’s body of work has at its core a fundamental questioning of the conventions of objecthood in relation to the producer and its viewer. He used language as the primary medium for his works since the late 1960s. Presented in capital letters, his structures consisting of language, or text fragments, often accompanied by graphic marks and lines, have been exhibited around the world and interpreted into numerous languages.
